Tom Struyf is a theatre maker, writer and landscape designer. His performances are a cross-over between theatre, film, documentary and lecture performance and flirt with genres such as detectives, coming of age and road movies. His performances are always rooted in a personal fascination – a place, a person, or a group of people – and often touch on societal topics, making them relatable and accessible to a wide audience.
Tom feels like a journalist, an idealist and a storyteller all at once. Like an anthropologist, he conducts research in order to create nuanced stories that do justice to the residents, the places and their history. Each new project is the result of years of research.
While Finding Willard departs on its international journey, Tom embarks on a new adventure. In 2025, he will be researching the possibilities of new storytelling methods with the help of A.I. He is also looking to develop immersive theatrical experiences without being physically present. In 2026-2027, he will come out with a new creation called Yesterday Island. More info soon!
